Assignment Task 1: [65 Marks]

Read the following Scenario and prepare a report with the guidelines provided.

Actual implementation of supply chain strategy typically passes through initial strategy development; supply chain model analysis, refinement, and stakeholder acceptance; and supply chain change management implementation. When developing supply chain strategy, decision makers should consider a number of metrics and measures: -

  • Strategic drivers: Factors that influence business unit and manufacturing strategies.
  • Strategic variables: The most important variables that affect the business environment and business strategy. Strategic variables include the economic situations, population demographics, and changes in technology and government policies.
  • Strategic benchmarking and performance measurements: Data showing how others compete across industries.
  • Strategic performance measurements: The long-term goals of a business, such as profitability, market share, growth and productivity.

This extract has been taken from ‘Supply chain strategy report’ published by APICS (Formerly American Production and Inventory Control Society).

APICS research reports are based on practitioner surveys that explore trending topics in supply chain and operations management. In the context of this report, you are asked to choose any organisation from the given list of 2019 annual supply chain top 25 leaders

Using the chosen organisation and by answering the questions given below, develop a report, proposing strategies to reconfigure the supply network design a

The report should include the following:
  1. Introduction of the Chosen Organization and background to the need for supply network design change. (10 marks)
  2. Explain any two supply network configurations which can be explored and evaluate the relevance of these models to the chosen organization. (10 marks)
  3. Assuming you are the new Supply Chain director of the organization, what procurement strategies should be implemented? Strategies recommended must contribute to transition from a push based to a pull-based system if required. (15 Marks)
  4. How can the adoption of a Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment [CPFR] concept contribute to both reactive and proactive response models mentioned above in the context of the organization’s circumstances? (15 marks)
  5. Examine and discuss the cross- functional supply chain drivers of the chosen organisations business model (10 marks)
  6. Conclusions and recommendations (5 marks)

Assignment Task 2: [30 Marks]

Learners have been presented with a case study document, titled ‘’ Why we’re in the Midst of a Global Semiconductor Shortage’’. Bases upon the case study, the learners are required to choose any one of the following organizations and answer the questions:

  • Toyota
  • Nissan
  • Ford
  • Volkswagen
  1. Give an overview of the case presented. What objectives of SCM are likely to apply to your chosen organization? (10 marks)
  2. Using the SCOR Model, develop a strategy that would aid in improving the organization’s position; label the supplier customer relationship spectrum highlighted, in the context of your chosen organization and develop a SCOR roadmap for the organization. (20 marks)
